GameCityMap (“GameCityMap”, “we”, “our”, “us”) operates the website at gamecitymap.com and an official YouTube channel under the GameCityMap brand. This policy explains what data we collect or process, how we use Google services (including the YouTube Data API), and the rights you have over your data.
1. What GameCityMap is
GameCityMap is an independent, fan-made gaming reference website covering Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto VI: interactive maps, verified databases, cheat codes, guides, news and original video content. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive or any game publisher.
2. Data we collect or process
GameCityMap does not require an account and does not collect personal data from visitors by default.
No account system: we do not collect names, email addresses, or passwords from site visitors. There is no registration or login on the website.
Local storage on your device: the website stores small pieces of information in your browser’s local storage — for example your theme preference (dark/light) and your progress on interactive map trackers. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us.
Anonymous usage analytics: we run our own lightweight, privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and interactions in aggregate. This does not include your name, email, precise location, or any personally identifiable information.
Server and edge logs: like virtually all websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Neon) process standard technical logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) to keep the service running and secure. These are processed by our providers under their own data-processing terms and are not used by us to identify individuals.
Search console data: we use Google Search Console to understand how our pages perform in Google Search. It provides aggregated, anonymized data (queries, impressions, clicks) and does not give us access to personal user data.
3. Google OAuth and the YouTube Data API
GameCityMap uses Google APIs, including the YouTube Data API, to publish and manage content on the official GameCityMap YouTube channel.
Why we use Google OAuth: to connect the GameCityMap website to our own official YouTube channel so we can upload original GameCityMap short videos (“Shorts”) that we produce ourselves.
Who it is used for: OAuth is used only by GameCityMap operators with the GameCityMap Google account. Site visitors never log in with Google and are never asked to grant permissions.
Data Google/YouTube may be able to access: through the connected account, the application can access and manage the content of the GameCityMap YouTube channel itself (uploading videos, reading the channel’s own upload metadata such as titles and visibility). It does not access other users’ private videos, private Google account data, emails, contacts, or viewer personal data.
Scope of use: the data accessed through the YouTube Data API is used exclusively to publish and manage GameCityMap’s own original content on its own channel. We do not sell, transfer, or use this access for any advertising, profiling, or other purpose.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
GameCityMap does not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not serve ads based on your browsing history. The only browser storage we use is local storage (see section 2), which stays on your device. Some embedded content (for example YouTube videos) may set cookies when you play them, subject to YouTube’s own privacy policy.
5. Storage and security
GameCityMap itself stores no visitor personal data, so there is no personal database to secure beyond standard technical operations. The OAuth credentials for our own YouTube channel are stored securely (restricted server-side secrets) and are used only by GameCityMap operators. Our hosting and database providers apply industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS).
6. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
We do not share data with advertisers.
The only third parties involved in operating the service are: Vercel (hosting/CDN), Neon (database), and Google (YouTube Data API and Search Console), each acting as a service provider under its own terms.
7. Data retention
Because we collect no visitor personal data, there is no personal retention period to apply. Standard technical logs are retained by our hosting provider for a short operational window and then deleted. Content we publish (articles, videos) remains public until we choose to update or remove it.
8. Your rights and how to request deletion
Under the GDPR and other applicable privacy laws, you have the right to access, rectify, and erase personal data concerning you, and to object to or restrict processing. Since GameCityMap collects no personal data from visitors, there is normally nothing personal to delete. If you believe personal data about you has been processed by mistake, contact us and we will investigate and delete it promptly (within 30 days).
To request deletion or ask any privacy question, contact:privacy@gamecitymap.com — or through the contact form on the website if available. We respond to all privacy requests.
9. Children’s privacy
GameCityMap is a general audience gaming reference site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services evolve. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on this page.
