GTA 5 Collectibles Guide: Every Set and Every Count (Story Mode + Online)
CONFIRMEDPublished 2026-10-08 · ⏱ 6 min
GTA 5 has seven collectible sets spread across two separate games — and they do not share a tracker. Story mode and GTA Online each keep their own checklist, which is why most players finish one set, assume they are done, and never touch the other five. The counts below come from the community collectible database (accessed October 8, 2026) and from our own sourced catalogue; the totals are arithmetic, not guesswork.
Story mode: four sets, 177 items
The single-player campaign hides four sets across Los Santos and Blaine County. They are fixed: the counts have not changed since 2013, and they do not rotate, expire or reset.
| Set | Items | Where it lives | How it is tracked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spaceship Parts | 50 | Spread across the whole map, on foot and off-road | Pause menu → Collectibles checklist |
| Letter Scraps | 50 | Scattered around Los Santos and the countryside | Pause menu → Collectibles checklist |
| Stunt Jumps | 50 | Rooftops, freeway ramps, hillsides, docks | Pause menu → Stunt Jumps |
| Peyote Plants | 27 | Hidden spots you must consume while on foot | Pause menu → Collectibles checklist |
Two things trip people up. First, stunt jumps are not collectibles in the same sense: they are physical jumps you have to clear in a vehicle, so a fast car matters more than a map. If you have not picked your car yet, our rarest cars guide explains which vehicles are gated behind collectible rewards — useful context before you spend a weekend hunting the Space Docker. Second, peyote plants only register while playing as the right character on foot; grabbing one in a vehicle does nothing.
GTA Online: three sets, 204 items
GTA Online runs its own collectible programme, and it is bigger than the story-mode one. These sets are tied to the live game, so they are the ones Rockstar can add to or move.
| Set | Items | Where it lives | How it is tracked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Action Figures | 100 | Scattered across the map in freemode | Interaction Menu → Collectibles |
| Playing Cards | 54 | Casinos and around the map in freemode | Interaction Menu → Collectibles |
| Monkey Mosaics | 50 | Painted across walls and rooftops | Interaction Menu → Collectibles |
The practical difference from story mode: GTA Online collectibles pay out as you go, and the big sets are the ones that unlock cosmetics, cash and experience. If you play Online at all, the 100 action figures are the highest-value hours you can spend — it is the largest single set in either game.

381 items is the real completion number
Add both games and the honest figure is 381 collectible items: 177 in story mode, 204 in GTA Online. That number matters because most guides quietly count one game and call it "everything" — then a reader spends a weekend finishing the yellow set and wonders why their completion percentage has not moved. Our 100% completion checklist covers what actually counts toward completion, which is a different list again.
The order that wastes the least time:
- Pick the mode you are actually playing. Story-mode sets do nothing for your Online character, and vice versa.
- Do the biggest set first — 100 action figures in Online, or the 50-piece sets in story mode. Routing gets easier once you know the map.
- Batch by region, not by set. Collect everything in one district before moving on: a route that zig-zags between sets burns hours.
- Leave stunt jumps for last in story mode. They need a fast car and clean runs, so they are the only set where vehicle choice changes your time.
You can plan those routes on the interactive Los Santos map, which carries our sourced location data and confidence labels.
Why this matters in the run-up to GTA 6
GTA VI arrives on November 19, 2026, and Take-Two has confirmed GTA Online keeps running after launch — we covered the company's own statement in our GTA 6 Online window explainer. Two consequences worth planning for:
- Your GTA Online collectible progress is not going anywhere. The live game is not being shut down on launch day, so unfinished sets stay finishable.
- The last quiet weeks are now. Once VI launches, the player base moves, guides get rewritten and everyone re-learns a new map. If a GTA V completion run is on your list, this is the cheapest moment to do it.
If you are only here for GTA VI, the confirmed features hub tracks what is verified for the new game — with every claim labelled CONFIRMED, LEAKED or SPECULATION, because that map is still mostly unknown.
FAQ
How many collectibles are there in GTA 5 in total?
381 across both games: 177 in story mode (spaceship parts, letter scraps, stunt jumps, peyote plants) and 204 in GTA Online (action figures, playing cards, monkey mosaics).
Do GTA Online collectibles count toward story-mode completion?
No. The two games have separate trackers. Online collectibles pay cash, RP and cosmetics; story-mode sets feed single-player completion.
Can collectibles be missed permanently?
Story-mode sets are fixed in the world and stay collectible. Stunt jumps require a vehicle and a clean run, so they are the only set where you can fail an attempt — you simply retry.
What is the fastest GTA 5 collectible set to finish?
By item count, peyote plants (27). By time actually spent, the 50 space parts in story mode are usually quicker than the 50 stunt jumps, which depend on vehicle handling.
Do I need a specific character for the story-mode sets?
Peyote plants must be consumed on foot, so play as the character you are actively using and take them on foot — entering in a vehicle does not register the pickup.
